special educational needs
We offer help, support and understanding of how to differentiate maths learning for children with special educational needs.
The Maths Mum® is not an expert in special educational needs however, through personal experience, we understand the different learning profiles of children with learning difficulties. By understanding these profiles, we are able to differentiate the maths curriculum to enable a child to learn and enjoy maths.
We can help parents, carers and Learning Support Assistants understand how they can best help at home and support the school. We can suggest alternative approaches to learning a topic. We make resources that will help visual learning. We can offer ways to integrate a maths topic into a hobby or lifestyle.
The Maths Mum® offers bespoke courses for parents, carers and Learning Support Assistants. They care tailored to the needs of the child.
We can work from toddler / pre-school age right up to adulthood. We can cover all aspects of the national curriculum to GCSE level. And we also offer understanding of and support the alternative FUNCTIONAL SKILLS Maths curriculum and qualifications:
Maths Entry Level 1, 2 and 3
Functional Skills Maths Level 1 and 2
The Maths Mum® is very active in the Down syndrome community and is looking at developing a differentiated curriculum for children that focuses more on life skills, not the GCSE curriculum, and aimed at achieving a FUNCTIONAL SKILLS Maths qualification.
