I really like how the resources are simple and attractive. They help parents explain maths topics to their kids taking into consideration different targeted age groups. They are our go to for maths help!
Got our copy and really enjoying having something to work through to get a better understanding of what stage we are at. Brilliant. Thanks. My daughter is Grace. Grace is 15. Your book will be invaluable to me as a parent as there are so many opportunities to teach and learn maths out of school in our daily life but it can be hard knowing how or where to start with some topics. So the support it will provide will be amazing for giving me the confidence to feel I am going in the right direction and a better understanding of the skills Grace needs to acquire/consolidate before moving on. I am excited for the journey. It is also brilliant having the record of progress and being able to appreciate what Grace can do. Everything is so clear. Amazing thanks.
“I believe this is going to be life changing for so many children with Down syndrome” referring to the Maths for life… not GCSE initiative.
“Development which is driven by personal desire, framed by inspiration and delivers something lifechanging is never a bad thing!” This is the response I got from a Senior Member of a Government Education Department when I clarified the purpose of the project ”Maths for Life… not GCSE”. Talk about a positive response!!!
This mum contacted me in mid May and asked the following:
“Now that I’m my son’s maths teacher, I realise how little of the times tables he knows. He’s great at understanding maths, but this week was all about multiplication and his lack of quick recall made it hellish and knocked his confidence. I’ve tried computer games, flash cards, song. Do you have any hints or ideas?”
I shared the link to a video on my website “A different approach to times tables”…
And the result 6 weeks later:
“The learning the number patterns really helped. My son now knows 90% of his times tables. It’s awesome. It’s really sped up his mental maths. Thanks so much.”
I also just wanted to say how much I'm loving your workbooks. It's helping my daughter (year 2) focus so much better than when we attempt the maths tasks set by her school. My parents have also had a look and say "they're much more fun than when we were at school" and had a go. I used to freeze up when taught maths and have mental blocks, so I wasn't really looking forward to helping my daughter with her maths. But thanks to you it's been so much easier.
I love her more than my husband.
I’ve just downloaded all your fabulous resources and even laminated them to use and resuse. Thanks.
Thank you!! You have done such hardwork to create a simple way of teaching at home. I was struggling to find more targeted work and more relevant work and now I have it due to your website.
We have been catching up today on your worksheets, my two have done the year 5 and year 6 worksheets decimals and percentages and fractions. I think they are pitched brilliantly. High enough level to stretch them but also not too high to knock their confidence. Thank you.
Within minutes of chatting you helped me understand how children with Down Syndrome learn and understand maths and also you provided me with some really good resources and the methods were clearly explained too with a demonstration and I loved how my daughter interacted with you. Thank you for giving me ideas / simple activities to do with her on a daily basis and make it fun.
Thank you ever so much for the advice you gave over our zoom chat. I've made hundreds/tens/ones boards and the trick of having 9 spaces on the ones board already seems to be helping :) Amazing xx
Very insightful course. And in perfect time for a corona virus lockdown / homeschool. Thanks!
I really enjoyed the whole experience. With a degree in Maths and 30 years secondary teaching and tutoring experience, I felt it was important to have a look at the building blocks from Year 1 to 6.
I left at the end of the course wishing that all secondary school teacher could do the course even if it is just to see what primary school students are expected to achieve by year 6.
Thank you very much for building the session to suit my personal needs.
Karen, thank you so so much! Coming from South Africa, I did not understand the Key Stages. You helped me to be able to assist my children with confidence. I now understand KS1 and I have a much better understanding of the terminology now. My son was super impressed that his Mum had done a Maths class. Thank you and I'll see you for KS2 soon :-)
I am no longer terrified of my Daughter’s homework!
This course provided an insight into the methods used to teach maths at school for my kids. Quite a holistic approach. It is fantastic to be able to relate to what they are being taught.
This was a fantastic course. I can’t wait to share what I have learn with my child. I struggle with learning but this wasn’t scary or hard the way it was broken down. Thank you.
As a family just entering into the UK school system from South Africa, it was great to learn correct terminology and ways to help my daughter catch up with the syllabus.
Was definitely pleased how the course went. Definitely feel more confident with helping with maths. Was fun. Thank you.
