Bringing the LOVE for MATHS
The last 6 months have been a whirlwind for me. I have truly found my home as The Maths Mum and I love the fact that I waken up every morning passionate about what I am doing. It has made me look long and hard at my life and priorities and unfortunately this has meant making the tough decision to resign from my part time Practice Management role. Tough, because I hate letting people down, but nevertheless the right decision for me as I want to dedicate every possible moment of time without my kids to The Maths Mum.
So, as soon as I find & hire my replacement, life will be filled with family, fun and The Maths Mum!
My list of things to do seems to be getting longer as parents are coming along and making requests. Some of the things on the horizon are:
Looking at a course for parents of children with special educational needs;
Doing some “Mental Maths” courses for parents… helping us to retrain and use our brains;
Having some subject related sessions like “Deep Dish Long Division” or “Addition and Subtraction Through the Ages”;
Completing some individually tailored “Parent & Child” sessions to help understand how they can better support their child at home;
Producing more monthly workbooks for different ability levels;
Approaching schools to do more Parent Talks on ‘Maths Phobia’ and how it can negatively impact our children; and
Bringing the LOVE for MATHS to as many people as possible!
I might come up for air at Easter… or maybe Summer.
Thank you again to all my loyal supporters and advisors. I am realising that although I am The Maths Mum, I couldn’t do it all without the support of family and friends. Thank you to my willing guinea pigs, my market advisors, my proof readers, my encouragers and my other half for being home when I need him to take care of the kids to enable me to run evening sessions. Thank you.
For Valentine’s Day…. give your child the gift of MATHS… tell them “I LOVE YOU TO INFINITY” and then explain what you mean! (PS. I’m available if you need help with this one…)
